Santillana del Mar
Santillana del Mar

Despite not being holy, flat, or having a sea, which has earned it the nickname of "the village of the three lies", the Monumental village of Santillana del Mar is an indispensable stop for any tourist who visits Cantabria.

Strolling through the cobbled streets of medieval origin you will notice the immense historical and artistic value of the town, whose origin dates back to the eighth century. Crossing the village you will come across the Colegiata de Santa Juliana, the most important Romanesque art exhibition in the region. Nor will the towers of Merino and Don Borja or the Velarde Palace go unnoticed, not to mention the many craft workshops in which you can make a beautiful souvenir of the place.

Caves of Altamira
Caves of Altamira

The caves of Altamira are considered the Sistine Chapel of Palaeolithic art. This rocky cavity, discovered by Modesto Cubillas around 1868, is the first place in the world in which the existence of Upper Palaeolithic Rock Art was identified.

The cavity is located inside the enclosure of the National Museum and Research Center of Altamira, where you can visit the Neocueva, a replica of the originals that for conservation reasons have restricted visits.

Suances
Suances

The fishing village of Suances is one of those places you can’t miss on your trip through Cantabria. The beaches, the fishing activity and the thousands of tourists who come to it in the summer months, are the hallmarks of the fishing village of Suances.

The village, located in the upper part of the village, maintains in its streets the tradition of its seafaring past, while among its many sandy beaches there are options, both for lovers of water sports, as for those who seek a natural environment in which to rest.
